NEW! Study Culinary Arts in Florence’s historical ‘Mercato Centrale’

Brand new CucinaLdM offers Culinary Arts students a state-of-the-art kitchen in a historical Florentine setting

Only steps away from LdM’s main building in via Faenza arises one of Florence’s most typical and lively buildings: the Mercato Centrale, one of the oldest covered markets in town where Florentines have been doing their grocery shopping since the opening in 1874.

We at LdM are very proud to announce that this historical building has recently become the scenery of many of our Culinary Arts courses. On the newly restored first floor of the Mercato we have created our ‘Cucina Lorenzo de’ Medici’, a modern kitchen with sixteen individual workstations equipped with innovative appliances, including magnetic induction cook tops, a complete array of kitchen utensils and appliances, and tablets which course participants use to follow demos by chefs on live video. Here students are able to learn all about Italian and Florentine cuisine in the midst of an extremely inspiring and unique ambience.
After an initial break-in during our Summer Sessions, the use of the kitchen is now in full swing and running alongside our traditional cooking laboratories.

And the good news is: these possibilities aren’t limited to LdM students only! We invite you, your friends and family to join us for Lunch and Dinner with the Chef – an original cooking demonstration in both the Italian and English language. While explaining his cooking techniques, our Chef will prepare for you a dish, a dessert and a glass of wine.
Furthermore also our Certificates are open to all those interested, as well as our various hands-on cooking classes.
