Seeking a dialogue between culinary arts and literature, the conference explores the multifaceted meaning of food in contemporary Italian literary works, from Pascoli to Marinetti and Ginzburg, discussing themes such as the revolutionary potential of food as an artistic experience, or the role of culinary practices in defining gender and class identity.
On Thursday the 14th the conference will open with an interactive workshop in English (3-4:30 PM) involving LdM students, and led by literature experts Eny Di Iorio and Franco Zangrilli. The workshop will host a discussion about how the idea of gastronomy has developed throughout the years in Italy, reflecting social, cultural and economical changes.
The conference will proceed with leading experts, scholars and writers, including contributions in Italian by Aldo Putignano, Mario Moroni, Franco Zangrilli, Fabio Pierangeli, Biagio Coco, Estella Gonzalez de Sande, Vincente Gonzalez Martin, Giuseppe Varone, Loredana Audibert, Gabor Tamas Molnar.
