The Italian Club provides LdM Rome students with a variety of ways to experience the local culture, make new friends and become an integral part of the city. It promotes many activities such as cultural events, guest lectures and film screenings, football games, city excursions and countryside excursions with the possibility to experience local gourmet products.

LdM Rome is located in an elegant Umbertine palace constructed at the end of the 19th century. The building is situated between two Metro stops, numerous bus lines, and is less than five minutes away from the central railway station (Termini) that connects to the city’s two airports (“Leonardo da Vinci”- Fiumicino and Ciampino). Many of the major sites and monuments of Rome, such as the Spanish Steps, the Quirinale, Via Veneto, and the Trevi Fountain, are within walking distance of LdM.
The premises provide students with an array of services, such as fully equipped classrooms and an art lab, a computer lab with free Internet access and printing for all LdM students. The building also has an extensive Wi-Fi network.
Through the years, LdM Rome has developed a strong connection with its neighborhood: bookstores, coffeehouses, restaurants and other businesses, which welcome LdM students and make them feel part of the city, as well as granting them special offers.
Dining
Students living in an LdM apartment are encouraged to utilize their fully-equipped kitchen and take advantage of the nearby markets and local vendors with fresh produce, meats, pastas, and much more, embracing the culinary traditions of Italy.
Students choosing the LdM homestay option are typically provided with half-board, which includes continental breakfast and dinner with the family five days per week.
Additionally, LdM Rome offers a student card which provides discounts at some local cafés and restaurants.
Library
LdM Rome has an English language reference library, stocked with materials that students can use in all courses offered. Students can consult books in the reading room and a limited number of books may be checked out. The library also purchases American and Italian newspapers and magazines on a daily basis.
Student Point/Computing
LdM Rome offers free internet access to students and other computing facilities.
LdM Student Mail Service
LdM has a Student Mail Service to facilitate students’ mail and packages sent from family and friends back home. It is easier and more reliable to have mail sent to the Student Mail Office than to an apartment in Italy. It is students’ responsibility to check with the Student Mail Service, especially when expecting a letter or package.
Friends and family may address letters and/or packages to the following address:
Student’s Name
c/o Istituto Lorenzo de’ Medici
Via XX Settembre, 4
00187 Roma
Italy
Medical Care
For those required to obtain a student visa, the Italian government mandates that all students have comprehensive international health insurance coverage for their time in Italy, and proof of said insurance while in Italy. In addition, LdM strongly recommends students obtain health insurance that includes medical evacuation and repatriation.
At the Orientation Meeting, LdM students will receive a complete list of English speaking general practitioners, Rome public hospitals and 24-hour pharmacies. For immediate care, students can visit the 24-hour emergency rooms at any of Rome’s public hospitals.
LdM Rome helps students discover the greatest treasures of the eternal city. Students will become part of an old, but still alive tradition, and at the same time, they experience the city both culturally and academically.
Every semester, LdM includes a series of extra-curricular activities that help students discover the traditional and contemporary Italian lifestyle. LdM Rome offers students the possibility to participate in cultural activities within Rome as well as day trips outside of the city.
Through visits to major museums, churches and historical sites our students get a broad understanding of Italian culture, art, music and cuisine.
