Gender Studies at LdM is an interdisciplinary department with the aim of enhancing students’ cultural understandings of gender structures and representations, and their impact on history, knowledge, policy and society as a whole. Students at LdM undertake the study of gender and all of its many facets including identity, race, class, disability, and nationality.
The areas studied at LdM include women and their role and presence in the historical, mythological, religious and philosophical systems; masculinity and femininity and theories of gender; theoretical bases of modern evolutionary biology and psychology; rise of the feminist movement; feminism and globalization; the literary roles of women of different periods.
