What do we mean by ‘culture’ and what are its many forms today? How are Italy's tradition and heritage portrayed in the media or in museums? How is contemporary Italy represented and who is writing about it? In a rapidly changing world, the study of cultural transformation is key to understanding the present and the future.
Cultural Studies courses at LdM are dedicated to topics like mass media and cultural practice and perception; women and their changing role in society; food culture and ideology; representations of Italy in literature and film; Italian culture in music; how culture is shaping the mass media; youth culture and young artists; popular genre studies; and the relationship between words and images in global culture.
