Using the LdM Library
You may access the catalogue from the dedicated PC in the Library itself, or from anywhere via the web. Ignore the “account login.”
How do I search the online catalogue?
You can search using the names of authors, the titles of books, or by keywords (e.g. Masaccio, fashion, modernism, Fellini etc.) from the initial catalogue page.
Hint: we strongly recommend working from “Advanced Search.” This includes the same and further options for text strings, and filters out unwanted look-alikes.
Next, clicking on an individual title will bring up information that is available in different formats (for instance the “MARC” view includes basic Library of Congress Data). The same click reveals the title’s call number: fill out the slip for the librarian who will bring you the title.
Please include only the shelfmark, not the Dewey decimal code that also appears (to receive “The Praise of Folly” by Erasmus, write “PHIL 9,” not “PHIL 9 878/.0409”).
You will also find a very useful group of subject headings entitled “Related links”. If you click on these links you will be taken to other books in the library that deal with the same
subjects. This can be a big help!
It is also possible to browse the shelves virtually by clicking beneath the callmark.
Granted that contents of some books may belong to more than one subject area or category, here is a current alphabetical list of the LdM shelfmarks, conveniently arranged by LdM School, Department and subject:
