B.A. IN FINE ARTS: ART HISTORY

Florence is the ideal destination for those interested in studying art history; the degree program offers unparalleled access to museums, festivals, and artists in the richest art history environments in Europe.
The B.A. in Fine Arts with a concentration in Art History is a four-year program designed to provide both a survey of western art and an in-depth study of selected periods. In addition to the required course work, students concentrating in art history must pursue an alternative discipline, preferably in a foreign language.
Art programs at Marist-LdM stimulate and develop the potential individual creativity of students, providing them not only with the technical skills but also the conceptual insights necessary for the development of artistic talent. Marist-LdM gives its students the tools necessary for entering the competitive labor market. Art History students who plan to pursue a career as a curator or museum manager can explore advanced coursework in Museology and Exhibition Management. Our faculty are well versed in the international art business and will give students the art expertise they need to conduct professional careers in art history or pursue advanced degrees. Because of the strong ties to the program in Conservation Studies and Restoration, Art History students have a unique opportunity to learn conservation theory as well.
